Debuting at Los Angeles Fashion Week (LAFW) Phelmuns brings his unconventional fashion to the runway. Phlemuns, designed by James Flemons, takes a step outside the traditional designing box for his fall winter 2016 collection.
Phlemuns took a step back from the spring summer 2016 denim design and presented a traditional plaid 1970s feel collection. The clothing is off proportions and looks like separates plays with the eye. The knit provides a flexibility that works well with the off proportion designs. The pieces often look like separates, but James discusses that they are constructed as one piece.
Backstage provided a fun atmosphere as models prepared for the runway. They styling was sleek with a pop of color with red lipstick and nails. Nails completed for the final details by Ani Michele, a vegan, chemical and cruelty free nail care. Styling elements provided by Loreal Paris Professional, LuxeLab Belair, and Maison Du Sac. The final details matter. James took time to make sure they were perfected
The details continued down the LAFW runway, as each model was able to dance a little and express some of their personality. The clothing designed with a traditional look for fall and winter with jackets, plaids, knits, long sleeves, and color choice. The runway was successful the brand will be selling at Solange’s online store, Saint Heron.
The runway included the inspiration for the collection music by Deee-Lite. James stated to 4Chion Marketing, “The main inspiration was their music and personal style, clashing prints and patterns with a take on the Nineties, inspired by the Seventies.” He followed the runway snake with a dance down the runway to the music.
The debuting collection presented a fun fall winter runway, with a step in the past. This collection brought many flashbacks to decades past, but added a new flair with the conventions outside the box.
